This practice covers the Past Simple of the verb to be — affirmative, negative, questions, and short answers (Yes / No). In each question you will see a sentence (or a transformation task) and four possible answers. Only one is correct.
Quick reminder:
- Affirmative: I / He / She / It was … | You / We / They were …
- Negative: wasn’t / weren’t
- Question: Was he …? / Were they …?
- Short answers: Yes, he was. / No, he wasn’t. Yes, they were. / No, they weren’t.
