Grade 4 — Reading 1

My name is Tom. I am ten years old. I live in a small house on Park Street. My address is 18 Park Street. My family is small. I have one father, one mother, and one little sister. Her name is Lily. My father is tall. My mother is very nice and she is a teacher. My sister and I play together every day after school. We have a big brown dog. His name is Max. Max sleeps in my room every night.

On Sunday, my mother and I went to a big store near our home. I wanted new shoes because my old shoes were too small for my feet. We saw many shoes — red, blue, black, and white. I picked the blue ones because blue is my favorite color. My mother also bought a new dress for my sister. The dress was beautiful. On the way home, we saw many children playing in the park. The sun was hot, but the children were happy.

At twelve o’clock, my mother calls me for lunch. I run to the kitchen fast. Today we have rice and chicken. I love rice! My little sister doesn’t want chicken. She wants ice cream. My mother says: “First eat your lunch, then ice cream!” After lunch, I go to my room. I read a book and look at a picture of my grandfather on the wall. He is very old, but he is very funny. I want to visit him next week.
