Grade 6 — Grammar: as … as

Grade 6 — Grammar: as … as ⚖️

Topic: Equal comparison — saying that two things are the same.

📚 Reference — How to use as … as

Pattern: X is as [adjective] as Y

Meaning: X and Y are equal in that quality.

Examples:
· My brother is as tall as my father.  (They are the same height.)
· This summer is as hot as last summer.

Negative pattern: X is not as [adjective] as Y

Meaning: X has less of that quality than Y.

Examples:
· My phone is not as new as your phone.  (My phone is older.)
· Walking is not as fast as running.

⚠️ Important rules:
  • Always use the base form of the adjective between the two “as” words. Never use “taller”, “more tall” etc.
  • Don’t forget the second “as”. “He is as tall as me” — not just “He is as tall me”.
  • For the negative form, the word “not” comes before the first “as”.
