๐ The Passages
Climbing My First Mountain
Last summer, my older brother and I joined a group of friends for a hiking adventure. We decided to climb a high mountain in the north of Israel. I was very excited but also a little nervous, because I had never climbed a real mountain before. We had to wake up early in the morning. The weather was sunny and beautiful โ not too hot, not too cold.
We started to walk slowly up the mountain. The way was very long. After three hours, my legs started to hurt and I felt very tired. I needed to rest. My brother smiled and said: “Don’t give up. Believe in yourself!” I drank some water, took a deep breath, and we continued together.
Finally, after five hours, we reached the top. The view from up there was wonderful! We could see for many kilometers โ green forests, blue lakes, and small villages far below. I felt so proud of myself. My brother gave me a big hug.
That day I learned an important lesson: with a good group of friends and a little patience, even a difficult adventure can become a wonderful memory. One day I dream of climbing Mount Everest. Maybe not tomorrow โ but one day.
A Night in the Old Tower
Last weekend, four of my friends and I went on a special adventure. We hiked to an old high tower at the top of a small mountain. We wanted to sleep there for one night, under the stars. We arrived early in the afternoon, after a slow climb of about four hours.
The view from the tower was wonderful. We could see far, all the way to the sea. But after sunset, the temperature went down very fast. The wind was strong, and our clothes got wet from the rain. We were tired and very cold, but we had warm sleeping bags and hot tea in our bags.
The night was long, and we did not sleep much. We talked about our dreams and our school. Finally, the morning came. The sun was warm and wonderful. We rested for a while, ate some sandwiches, and then started our slow way down the mountain.
When we got home in the afternoon, we were extremely tired but very proud of ourselves. It was an adventure I will never forget. I can’t wait for the next one!
Our School Hike
Last month, my class went on a school hike. We were a big group of thirty students. Our teacher said: “Today is a special day. We are going to climb a small mountain together.” Some of my friends were excited; some were a little tired before we even started!
The morning was cloudy and a little wet from last night’s rain. I felt a little worried about the weather, but my best friend Ben said: “Don’t worry, it will be fun.” We started to walk together. The way was sometimes easy, sometimes hard. Some students were slow, and we had to wait for them.
Finally, after two hours, we reached the top. The sun came out and the view was wonderful. We sat in a circle and ate lunch โ sandwiches, apples, and chocolate. Our teacher told us a funny story about her own first hike, when she was our age.
After we rested for thirty minutes, we slowly walked back down to the bus. I was tired but very proud. It was the best day of school this year. Tomorrow we will tell our families all about our wonderful adventure!
